Junior Full Stack Developer

The role is suitable for someone with commercial experience with NodeJS, TypeScript, UnitTesting and If you also have experience with AWS, microservices.

You will help design supporting applications for mobile and web amongst product related development. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented developer to be involved in the design of cloud based systems,  troubleshooting and along with diagnosing ,fixing production software issues and resolving technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a active member of agile development teams as they deliver robust, engaging and usable solutions
  • Familiar building JavaScript heavy apps on high-transactional websites and not to rely or be focused on frameworks
  •  Full-stack development, where you are comfortable building APIs and deploying Kubernetes
  •  Polyglot mindset and an appetite for learning – happy to work with languages you might not have commercial experience with yet (Go, Elixir, Clojure, etc.)
  •  Experience working within an Agile/TDD/XP environment
  • Take personal responsibility for components’ technical delivery – collaborating with other senior developers and architects to design robust, scalable technical solutions
  • Share your knowledge and experience with colleagues as you coach them and mentor them, helping the team to grow their skills, as well as developing your own skills by experimenting with and learning new technologies
  • Encourage innovation, inclusion, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
  • Work with internal teams to develop new opportunities and open source projects and initiativesBuild and maintain existing web applications using Angular
  • Create architecture for future development and create a learning Pathway for current and future developers
  • You would get to work with a range of JS technologies and frameworks; making technical decisions and working to implement these – so remaining hands on and passionate about the technology and being excited by difficult technical challenges.
  • Skills Required:
  • Node.js (or C#)
  • AWS Lambda, DynamoDB
  • JavaScript (React, Angular, Express or other modern frameworks)
  • Microservices architecture
  • Restful API design and development
  • SOLID, DRY, Design Patterns.
  • Knowledge or an interest in CI/CD, DevOps and test automation is also desired.
  • Unit testing frameworks in at least one language, preferably Javascript
  • Data analysis using Python
  • Using and maintaining cloud infrastructure eg Cloud Foundry, AWS

Junior Data Scientist

The Junior Data Scientist/Analyst will work within a team of Cloud and Data SMEs to investigate, plan, experiment and develop Data Science solutions to Defence problems. The Data Scientist will work across a range of business areas and data sources. They will often work closely with to understand business problems and suggest Data Science solutions.

  • Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modelling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement.
  • Use a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data.
  • Generate and test hypotheses and analyze and interpret the results of product experiments.
  • Work with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features and provide guidelines for large-scale implementation.
  • Provide Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization support, which includes, but limited to support for the online customer service dashboards and other ad-hoc requests requiring data analysis and visual support.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including experience of stakeholder management.
  • Developed data science solutions to real world problems, from proof of concept to delivery.
  • Experience of developing and deploying deep learning and neural network algorithms.
  • Working with unstructured data sources such as images, video and text.
  • Working with Agile project delivery methods.
  • Experience of relational databases, eg SQL, Oracle.
  • Knowledge  of version control (git) and CI/CD development approaches.
  • Experience building data pipelines using Apache Airflow or similar.

Skills:

  • MUST : A degree or equivalent practical experience in a Data science and data analytics
  • MUST : Experienced in either programming languages such as Python and/or R, big data tools such as Hadoop, or data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in writing, including conveying complex information and promoting in-depth engagement on course topics.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Programming and data handling experience in Python or similar.
  • Experience in data exploration and visualisation using common Python packages including pandas, matplotlib, seaborn etc.
